Born in Takayama City in Gifu Prefecture, Syotaro Miyamoto graduated with highest honours from Kunitachi Music College after prior study at the Senior High School attached to this college. He was awarded the Yatabe Prize and appeared in the 82nd Yomiuri Newcomers Concert.
In 2021 he was awarded the 32nd Asahi Composition Prize in the choral category for his work Teiten kansoku (Fixed Point Observation) for female choir and piano.
In 2022 he was awarded third prize and the Yoshinao Nakata Prize in the 28th Sogakudo Competition for new contributions to the genre of Japanese song.
His works are published by Zen-On Music Co.
In addition to his activities as a composer, he is also active as a pianist, in particular as a guest performer of piano and celesta withTokyo orchestras.
He studied composition with Naoto Aizawa and harmony with Maki Ueda.
