富貴晴美(1985-)
Composer | Pianist | Associate Professor at Kunitachi College of Music
Harumi Fuuki is a celebrated Japanese composer and pianist known for her emotionally rich and cinematic musical language. Her works span film, television, animation, musical theatre, and concert music, earning her a distinctive place in contemporary Japanese composition.
Born in Osaka in 1985, Fuuki graduated at the top of her class from Kunitachi College of Music with a degree in composition, where she also completed her master’s studies. She now serves as Associate Professor at the same institution.
She gained national recognition with her film score for Chronicle of My Mother, which earned her the Japan Academy Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Music in 2013 — making her the youngest recipient of the award. She has since received the same honor two more times, for Japan’s Longest Day and Sekigahara.
Fuuki has composed for numerous acclaimed productions, including NHK’s morning dramas Massan and Maiagare!, and the historical epic Segodon. Her film and animation scores include Forest of Piano, And So the Baton is Passed, The Deer King, Lonely Castle in the Mirror, What’s So Special About Being 90?, and Aimitagai.
She is also active in the theatre world, having composed original scores for The Boy and the Beast (directed by Go Aoki) and The Ghost and the Lady (directed by Scott Schwartz), both produced by Shiki Theatre Company.
Fuuki's music combines lyrical sensitivity with structural depth, often bridging the gap between classical and contemporary styles. She is a recipient of numerous awards, including First Prize at the 26th JSCM Award for Young Composers.
