KANNO, Yugo
菅野祐悟(1977.6.5-)

Kanno was born in 1977. He studied composition at the Tokyo College of Music.
He made his debut as composer in 2004, writing the music for the TV drama “Last Christmas.” Since then, he has been active across a wide range of genres including films, TV dramas, and animation. He has composed for many acclaimed works such as Gunshi Kanbei, Hanbun Aoi, JOJO’s Bizarre Adventure series, Psycho-Pass series, and Detective Conan series.
Kanno is also devoted to writing purely musical works; his Trombone Concerto was premiered in 2011, and his Concerto for Koto, Shakuhachi, and Orchestra “Revive” in 2015. His two symphonies – Symphony No.1 “The Border” (2016) and Symphony No.2 “Alles its Architektur” (2019) – have been premiered by the Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Sachio Fujioka. Further works include Saxophone Concerto “Mystic Forest”, Cello Concerto “Izayoi”, Violin Concerto, and Piano Concerto. Recognized as one of the leading Japanese composers, he is continuing to expand his activities.
In recent years, Kanno has also been active as a film director, screenwriter, and painter, and he is attracting attention both at home and abroad as an artist who transcends genres.
