Born in 1998, Motoki Ueda studied music specialising in composition in the Arts Department of Sagamihara-Yaei Senior High School in Kanagawa Prefecture, after which he went on to study composition at Tokyo College of Music. As a scholarship student from 2018 he was awarded the 17th Prize of the President of Tokyo College of Music.
In 2022 his work Snowing! was selected for performance in the New Works Challenge Project 2022 planned by the conductor Keitarō Harada. 
2023 saw the world premieres of his Dreams of Vague Memories by the Yamagata Symphony Orchestra and Reliving the Imagination by the Aichi Chamber Orchestra, who commissioned this latter work.
In 2024 he arranged the Messiah Fantasy under the supervision of the composer Takashi Yoshimatsu for performance at the 66th NHK New Year Opera Concert.
He has studied composition with Chiaki Katō, Sunao Isaji, Shō Ueda, Norihiko Ōmi and Akira Nishimura.
