MATSUI, Ryusei
松井琉成Ryusei Matsui was born in Tokyo and spent his school days in Fukuoka. During his childhood he became fascinated by the electone, and afterwards, while a high school pupil, belonged to his school’s wind band in which he played percussion. He began composing at the age of three and while living in Fukuoka performed his works at venues such as the Fukuoka International Conference Hall and the Acros Fukuoka Symphony Hall. He studied composition at Kunitachi College of Music during which time be submitted works for performance at a wide variety of concerts including regular college concerts and concerts related to the ensemble competitions held by the college’s senior high school wind ensemble. His creative activities embrace a wide range of genres and ensembles. He was awarded the New Classic Project Prize for this work while still a student.
