GARCÍA TENIA FRIO（2006）

The year 2006 is not only the centenary of the birth of Shostakovich， but also the 70th anniversary of the death of the Spanish poet Federico Garc?a Lorca. I therefore decided to try to compose a piece using the first and second movements of Shostakovich's Fourteenth Symphony as the basic concept， for Lorca's poetry was used in that work. The poetry had been put into Russian， even to the point of saying that the weather coul be very cold. I therefore chose the title 'Garc?a tenia frio' (Garc?a was cold)， and I did not use the name 'Lorca' or 'Federico' as I preferred to have a more impersonal title.
