THE PROGRESSION OF D for Cello Solo（2016）

This work was commissioned by Kei Yamazawa，a cellist. I composed it and he gave his first public performance in a series of recitals called “Kei Yamazawa Unaccompanied Cello Recital 2016 ‘Stillness and Motion’: A Collection of Unaccompanied Cello Works from the 20th Century on.”
The note D controls the whole work. Centered on that note，the composition surges rapidly and develops further，making it a very technical piece. The frenetic part and the lyrical part are woven together as if they are in conflict while they rush toward the conclusion.
