Description
In about 100 years of violoncello music composition history, the instrument is acquiring the oriental characters.
I was always conscious about an encounter of the occidental tradition and the oriental tradition when I wrote "a sonata" till now. But in composition of this music, those two different kinds of traditions were already provided in this instrument. I composed this on September 2005.
I got the idea for the first movement of this sonata from a Hokkaido traditional folk song named Oshikoi. Fishermen use "Oshikoi" as shout of encouragement when they push a boat to the sea,so the last part of the first movement has the rhythm of rowing a boat.
The second movement is continued from the first movement and starts with six eights beat in barcarole.
The third movement is a scherzo by transformed motif of the first movement's theme.
