Description
The Pillars of Creation are an interstellar gas field in the shape of pillars photographed in 1995 by the Hubble Space Telescope, which is continuously circulating the globe observing the far corners of the universe. Seeing some of these celestial colour images for the first time,I had the impression of gazing on an outstanding example of modern art,and I couldn’t help wondering who the imaginative artist might be that had created such extraordinary images.
The images were in fact created by particles of light from the faraway reaches of the universe,by the enormous telescope that captured them in cosmic space, and by the scientists who conducted a detailed analysis of their wavelengths.
The five cosmic fragments brought together here are inorganic, fantastic, tranquil and powerful. Through the agency of the piano, they are woven together here in the form of aural images that should ideally be transparent yet at the same time colourful, delicate but also uninhibited.
