COSMOS for Harp（2024）

This is one of two works that I composed in response to a commission for pieces to be performed at a concert commemorating the eightieth birthday of the renowned flautist Hiroshi Koizumi. The mellow, reverberant tone of the harp seems to transcend space and time, expanding in scope to embrace hypothetical memories of voyages and providing me with a wide range of stimuli for thinking about sonic continuity and orientation. Such ideas provided me with the impetus to further develop my original concept for the piece. I jotted down the brief headings that appear in the score as points of reference while working on the piece, and I decided to leave them in the score intended for publication. It goes without saying nevertheless that they are unnecessary for listeners.
