- Description

I completed this piece on 14 February 2013 in response to a commission from Mizuki Aita. It was premiered in August of that
year at a concert held in the Recital Hall at Suginami Municipal Hall in Tokyo. It has been performed frequently since then
throughout Japan by Mizuki Aita and several other players.
The opening passage of the first movement evokes the sound of a temple bell and reappears in the coda of the third movement.
The movement is characterised by a repeated phrase that is varied slightly with each repetition.
The second movement features melodic music played at a leisurely tempo. This piece has proved very popular with audiences
and is often played as an encore.
The third movement is a varied and expanded form of the first movement and brings the work to its conclusion.
I hope that publication of this work by Zen-On Music will enhance its popularity among a wide public.
