SILENCE AND LIGHT - in Memory of Kuniharu Akiyama -， for Piano（1997）

This piece for piano is written for and dedicated to the late Mr. Kuniharu Akiyama， a musical critic who deceased on August 17， 1996， and his wife Aki Takahashi， pianist， and was first performed by her at the memorial concert of Mr. Akiyama which was held on August 17， 1997， Yokohama.
The given title of “Silence and Light” does not mean to express a certain world which is enveloped by a peaceful quiet， or rather the world of sounds of the piece is existing at our side， namely， the side of the living who cannot escape from their anxieties and sorrows. In other words， the object is our solitary longing for a soul， and a prayer to the world which is enveloped by “Silence and Light” existing over death， and invisible thing.
