Kalavinka is transcribed in Japanese “KARYOUBINKA”. In the Buddhism sutra of Amitabha, Kalavinka is a special shaped bird in paradise. This bird has a human face, a bird body and has a truly beautiful voice, and sings the words of Buddha for giving human mercy.
This music is considered by the image of Kalavinka. And the image of Buddhism paradise is from “Taizou Mandara”. That came down from Toji Temple, Kyoto. Mandara space is like inside of the womb that is filled by lights of various colors, and spirituous and sensual aroma. Soft and fascinating bodies of the Buddhist saints and the children who have naive and pink skin like Mah? vairocana mainly gathered there. It is Buddhism paradise space satisfied by mysterious and voluptuous eroticism. Kalavinka flies and sings to human who lives in the world of pain.
This music is for Pianist Yu Kosuge’s recital in music festival in Salzburg on August 20, 2006. It is dedicated to her.
