- Description
-
This piece consists of a ‘fragmentary’ section lasting around five minutes followed by a shorter ‘echo’ section. The Fragment section is characterised by heterophonic waves in the form of tremolos and trills, presenting a primeval flow of sound that precedes any sense of musical form. The flow is then broken, giving way to the Echo section, in which the fragments are transformed to create the effect of an echo. Incorporating noise elements, the Echo section undergoes further transformation with the echo effect gradually dissipating.
