ETHERIC VISIONS，for Guitar solo（2017）

This work was created in close collaboration with guitarist Daisuke Suzuki，who gave the first performance of it. The word Etheric in the title derived from the etheric body propounded in theosophy. The etheric body (or called as the vital body) represents the body filled with aura. When I listen to excellent performances in classical music concerts，I sometimes have mysterious experiences as if the performer radiates an aura and the stage is covered by scrim. I wanted to write a work that induces such a state.
The whole piece is dominated by harmonic sequence of the major third and the perfect fifth derived from special tuning for the solid musical idioms and by the mode based on the harmony. At the same time，some special techniques are mixed with virtuosity and diverse tones of this work. From the beginning to the coda，this piece continuously requires an uncanny ability to concentrate.
