Description
This is the eighth in a series of musical works I have been working on since 2018 based on 3D models. As indicated by the title, the material of this particular work is taken from the molecular structure of water. Molecular structure may be based on 35 molecules as in the case of catechin, which I used as the basis for my orchestral piece Le Banquet des Mol?cules (2018),or,as in the case of water, only three molecules, two of hydrogen and one of oxygen. As a liquid, water can change into a solid or a vapour. It breathes life into nature and into all living things. With its plentiful water supply our planet rotates, the seasons unfurl, and the sun rises and sinks. Rotation is one of the main themes in this series of works based on 3D modelling, and I have attempted in this particular work to explore new possibilities for application of this method. (From the program notes for the first performance)
