Description
This composition was commissioned by tuba player Hiroyuki Yasumoto in 1992. It was a commission for an international tuba convention "International Tuba-Euphonium Conference" held in Kentucky,U.S.A. On May 14 of that year,Yasumoto gave the first public performance with Yuko Kusuyama on the piano. Besides being a longtime member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra,Yasumoto was professor at Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music, the chairman of its College of Music and advisor to the Japan Euphonium Tuba Association.
I likened the tuba to an elephant and thought up the idea of its "rhetoric." It goes without saying that it is not a description of the real animal. This music had been often performed by international tuba player,Shin-ya Hashimoto, and others. The publication of this work is late because the composer lost the original score. But finally it is now ready to be published.
