I have written for two players of the same instruments such as the cellos, violins, violas, clarinets, oboes, contrabasses and percussions. This is the eighth work of the series.
It goes without saying that some of the essential qualities of the saxophone lies in its timbre and mobility. If you could name one more thing,it is the familial quality of the instrument. The saxophone family has stronger solidarity than any other instrumental families. Composing a quartet is the best way to prove the family bond but I wanted to approach from a work for duo because the・ family allows players to change instruments smoothly. Around us,there are a lot of excellent saxophonists including Nobuya Sugawa and Yasushi Arai. They really inspire me to compose a work for them!
I intended to write a drama of four brothers which was played by two saxophonists. The theme of the drama is a mental conflict between them. One wants to sing but the other tries to interrupt it and run around in every direction. My role was to make the synopsis.
