This work is an orchestral edition of Piano Suite written in 1934 for the American pianist George Copeland. The original work was first performed by Gino Gorini in 1938 at S.I.M.C. Venezia and is published by Zen-On Music.
This orchestral edition is written for standard triple woodwind. Though there are a few additions due to the medium of expression expanding, the structure, tonality and other elements are all the same as the original.
The work was premiered on September 17, 1991 at the Suntory Music Foundation Composer Portrait by the New Japan Philharmonic, conducted by Michiyoshi Inoue.
