1943:Born in Mito City. 1971:Completed graduate course at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.  1966:First Prize in the composition section of the 35th Japan Music Competition. 1966:First Prize in the Ongaku-No-Tomo Sha chamber music composition competition. 1968: Composition Prize of the Ongaku-No-Tomo Sha Corp. After these,Prize of the City for excellence in the TV-Opera Fest in Salzburg, Awarded the Italian Broadcasting (RAI)Prize 3times. International Emmy Awards. Prize for excellence in the Fine Arts Festival 4times.The Otaka Prize 3times. Mainichi Film Music Prize 3times. Music Prize for excellence in the Japanese Academy Award 9times. Awarded the NHK Broad casting Culture Prize. JXTG Music Prize. Culture prize of Himeji-City,Yokohama -City,Mito-City and Kanagawa-pref. Decorated a Purple Medal. etc.2018:Agency for Cultural Affairs 50th Anniversary Award & Person of Cultural Merits.Main works:10 Symphonies, 11 Operas, many orchestral and chamber works, many chorul works etc. Scores for Films:The Shadow Warrior(Akira Kurosawa)、The Ballad of Narayama(Shohei Imamura)etc. Has written more than 480 scores of incidental music for plays.  Currently, Professor Emeritus at the Tokyo College of Music, The Directer of Tokyo Opera-City ,Ishikawa  Ongakudo, Setagaya Music Business Unit,Himeji Cultural and International Exchange Foundation etc.
